iPage Customer Reviews

iPage: The most useless ISP I have ever used

I just sent this: Dear Sirs After submitting well over 40 tickets, updates, complaints since I initiated my service with you a mere month ago, I eventually tired of your generic and (quite frankly) absurd and unhelpful responses to questions. You have wasted countless hours of my time. After hosting with BlueHost for a mere 3 days, I have had not a single incident of slowness, not a single problem with loading any of my web-pages. Not a single problem that I experienced with iPage. You may peruse the numerous tickets I submitted to you all, and may now take note of my protests regarding your advice, and understand my complete contempt for your generic and ridiculous suggestions and responses. I was right. Something was wrong with your hosting. An exact clone of my site is working fine at wocky.me I would, however, like to maintain the domain registration of my wocky.me domain with you as I can't register a .me domain at BlueHost Please advise me of the cost for merely keeping you as the domain registrar and cancelling the hosting service. I do not want to use your servers/databases for hosting any portion of my site. I merely request that you keep pointing wocky.me to the BlueHost servers as you currently do. Please advise of the cost of doing this, and what credits are due to me. After my numerous frustrations with you, I warn you that I currently have a blog that is growing daily and I expect you to behave ethically and fairly in this regard. Thank you www.WOCKY.me I hosted a blog of 30 pages with iPage. A blog of 30 or so records in a stock-standard wordpress site. Regularly, I would get pauses of up to 60 seconds to load pages, at other times a database connection error. A tech at iPage said he managed to replicate the results, but the next response was ONCE AGAIN a generic, idiotic response. It must be noted that I currently have no financial affiliation/obligation to BlueHost whatsoever, but I feel they are actually someone worth recommending.

Cancelled due to lacking support and product quality

I tried three times to communicate my problem of a blank page instead of my website or iPage's courtesy parked website. Support never addressed this situation and came off a bit short with my request to address why nothing was showing. I decided this was a bad start and asked for a cancellation. I ordered January 9th and and cancelled January 13th. Now my registered domain name is held by iPage since it was offered for free and I seemingly do not have access to it.

For a starter it's #1

I was worried about the tech support @ first and had several problems with them but after a while i found a way of dealing with them and now it's really fine, they got pre-installed Joomla (the latest ver.)! it was really cool and on the top of it all they make a real discounts for their customers so I got my 2nd hosting plan for $2/month rather than $3.5/month for the 1st one, and be careful! the really refund your money but only for the hosting plan and not for extra services like back up and security stuff, my conclusion: the best deal ever on the internet for now!

teaser rate...the price will go up fast

THey said I could build the site with their free site builder. I needed more than 6 pages so I upgraded to the site builder preimum $99.90/yr. They charged me the site rate $70/yr PLUS the $99. Then they charged me another 99 dollars for another site builder. So almost 300 dollars a year for a $3.95/mo web site. I had to give it up but still have not gotten a refund.

Dissappointed

Often being disconnected from the server. Server often down. They never give clear explaination about this problem. They only said that there is problem with MySQL.

No support for ecommerce

Don't believe their statement about free tech support. It is a lie. None of their tech support agents are training on the ecommerce software. So if you get a commerce site with iPage you are on your own.

Its Slow

iPage hosting is slow as to load the domain it take 2-4 seconds. Then load all the content take nearly 6sec. When it goes to the database connection slow than most of other sites. So for the basic site it ok. If you go for web development site like Wordpress, joomla any other open source it get slow. I have check site speed using http://tools.pingdom.com. Think twice while select the hosting.

Horrible web host!

We were dissatisfied with iPage from day 1, but stuck with it hoping it would improve. It never did. Using the control panel is painfully slow; it takes FOREVER for all the folders to load (and the problem is NOT with my internet connection). Their technical support is terrible; you ask a question and get complete gibberish for an answer. Finally, they "kicked us out" because our site was supposedly generating too many requests, and they would not give us any details or explanations. As far as I'm concerned, they stole our money. We're just going to have to eat the loss and go with a reliable web host.

Could not setup domain

Despite their automated system not working and tech support getting all the requested info they were not able to get my domain registered. Went to another host, done in 30 seconds. They are now ignoring or refusing a refund (despite a 100% money back guarantee) so they are forcing me to go through paypal. Not having a good experience with them at all. There are too many options out there to make it worth puting up with this nonsense. This is the second site i've hosted with them and this time only because of the price offer they had at the time, so I really should have known better.

I for "ill"Page ~ frustrating

I signed up for iPage about a month ago, My web-space disappeared about 2 weeks in. They said it was "registered badly" & they keep asking me if i wanted 2 register a domain.. I got another good 2 weeks, THEN last night Nov 30, 2011, I chatted with 3 sales reps who ask me repeatedly "Can you please hold for another 3 to 4 minutes?" The last one asked for the entire "header" for the emails i missed (about 12 emails) Good thing it was copied to my yahoo address . I provided it, Then the "TECH rep" asked me where the email was from, I copied and pasted it from the 2nd & 3rd line of the header he asked for, Did he or could he read it? After he could no answer why i was not getting emails, he put me on hold again and again to then open a ticket of some sort, told me t gave me a link.. and ended the convo, saying i would get a response in 2-4 hours.. its after 3am ~Sigh~
