Web Hosting Reviews, Ratings and Awards since 2004!
As seen in my review headline above, don't sign up with Hostmonster unless you want your site down several times weekly(and usually at peak hours) and unless you want to see this displayed as your server status about 3-4 times a week: "Our technician is currently investigating a server problem. The source of this problem is unknown at this time. The duration of assessing this is approximately 15 to 45 minutes. " This is all you get, and if you go to Customer support they tell you nothing other then they are working on the problem. they claim a 98-99% uptime, but I don't see how that is possible at all, I run a simple text message board website and my site is down 3-4 times a week, sometimes for hours at a time. I've been lied to by customer support, told meaningless answers to questions. This company is just a total joke, they are incompetent!I signed up for 3 years to get a lower price and now am counting the days until my contract is up, 11 months left of the worst hosting EVER!

I used hostmonster for two domains and I have had problems from the beginning. Most of the time there were serious performance problems and they never tried to resolve or at least work on these issues. The "technical support" is a joke and the billing team I am currently fighting with is also really bad. I just hope I will get the promised refund but it does not look like that at the moment. Beside of that I moved to a smaller company a few weeks ago and the problems are magically solved.

I hosted multiple accounts at HostMonster. It's a great price, lots of features, almost everything you want from a cheap host. BUT, after a couple of years of running a script on one of my sites without any problem it hit a glitch one day and comprised the server performance. Instead of suspending that script (as another host would do), they suspended the whole web site and just sent me an email (no phone call, no nothing). So, buyer beware. I would never trust them if I had retail site.

I have the same bad experience as you have when i was in godaddy.I didn't even get all my money back as i was told that i have two weeks to change my mind, but it found out that i only had 5 days to get my money refund!I felt like i got ripped off by them. When i changed my mind and wanted to get my money refund,i called them one day later,he said that " the time has just passed and you are eligible to get your money refund."I said i was told that i could get all my money back in two weeks,i was asking the same question for a few times from the billing department so that i could entirely main sure that i didn't get it wrong.Their customer services are really really too bad and i 'd never had a bad experience like that before!I was ripped off by them! It's been 3 days and i am still so angry about that!I am a good temper and quiet person but this time i can be quiet anymore!I don't think i can forget it in the rest of my life!I don't think the host monster is worse than godaddy.com

I would like to share my experience with Hostmonster as I was 2 days a customer. I was searching WEB host with Drupal support and made a choice of Hostmonster. When I tried to install Drupal with PostgreSQL on my domain I got a message which said can't connect to the data base. I repeated installation couple times more just to verify this was hosting environment or software problem. And got the same error again. To find a solution I opened a support ticket. The reponse was received in the same day:"... Unfortunately we cannot assist you with manual installs of third party programs ...". I tried to install Drupal again. This time with mySQL and there were no problems or errors. I opened a new ticket and tried to explain this was not an installation manual error, but something wrong with Hostmonster. This ticket was closed immediately without any explanation. Then I made decision to cancel to use Hostmonster as they think to ignore customer needs is the best attitude

I have had a very bad experience with Hostmonster! In the beginning, they were very friendly and responsive. But after one year, and with the first problem I faced, they were totally non-reliable!
I accuse them by running some dirty business, in which they create a security problem for you and then deactivate your account. And when you ask their support to solve it, they refer you to hire a "specific" web security guy (His name is Thomas Raef, from wewatchyourwebsite.com). This guy is going to waste your time pretending that he is doing a scanning job and after 2 or 3 days, he will tell you that your site is CLEAN! But, you will end up with non-functional website and then, he will disappear. After that, you will go through a non-ending cycle of fighting with Support & Terms of Services Department to transfer or migrate your site to another reliable host.
This was my experience, and I am ready to prove what I said!
I will never recommend them at all!

They advertise this service as "unlimited" but it really doesn't take much to reach the limits. 1000 mySQL tables is certainly not unlimited, and is also not difficult to reach if you use apps like Drupal with a number of modules. Hostmonster also takes some arbitrary decisions that may affect you after you have signed up and paid for their service. The latest example of this is their decision to remove the backlup wizard which allowed me to download backups of individual databases whenever I wanted. I accept all the limitations of shared hosting, but arbitrarily removing features that were part of the service I have already paid for is unacceptable. Not that they seem to care. I suspect this is just a foolish attempt to get customers to pay for "pro" services. If that's the plan, I'm looking for a new hosting company. Pity.

I was never really able to log in to my control panel because the system kept hanging on some infinite loop. There were also so many hidden charges and default settings that caused my credit card to be automatically debited for paid features I never asked for. I would NEVER sign up with this provider ever again, and I DO NOT RECOMMEND THEM.

Second time in a week my website is going to be down for 6 or more hours because of some 'work' going on on the server my website is hosted on. As soon as I gain access to my site's files and database I'll be starting the process of moving to another hosting service.

FTP stopped working and HostMonster could not fix it. Bad pricing as well.
