HostGator Review

I have been on hostgator for 3 months now. I have had several self inflicted issues that their chat tech support has been great about fixing. The price is where i would like to be.

I have been using Host Gator for many years now to host serveral of my sites. Their plan, price and Reliability & Uptime have been perfect for my needs. The most important thing was also their customer service which really impressed me. I have used many different hosting companys and none have even matched the great customer service I received from Host gator.

I heard good reviews so I tried them. They are currently hosting my site but it looks like I have to switch. I constantly get database errors. Tech support says it is because their servers are busy and I have to upgrade my account. I have to upgrade and pay more because your servers are too busy? Maybe they used to be good but my experience over the past 6 months has not been good. I don't want to go through the hassle of switching hosts but it looks like they are giving me no choice.

I just recently switched over to HostGator, and these guys rock. Quick uploads and downloads, great packages, and the customer support is FAST & friendly.

I've been using hostgator for a few years now and have been pretty satisfied. I have two hosting accounts with them and have recommended them to people as well. I did have a negative experience with them recently on one of my hosting accounts. My site was apparently using too much resources and they had set a rule where no one could access my site but myself. They did this with no upfront warning and I was forced to figure out what was eating the resources, upgrade my account to VPS or move to a new host. After careful thought, I did choose to stay with them as hostgator has always been reliable. I thought how they handled the situation could have been better though, as a long time customer it would have been nice if they had gave me some kind of break for the first months price of VPS or allowed my site to be up for another day while I figured things out. Now my site has been down for 5 days and its just recently getting back up.

For no reason BUT one of my script is sending out more emails than allowed. Unfortunately they do not provide steps to resolve it immediately. They are more concern with their servers going down than your business since all my sites are taken offline. It has been more that 24 hours and we are still communicating! I have been looking for alternatives and this will be the push factor.

I am very disappointed because I spent a lot of time picking a webhost and Gatorhost was the only one I found that oftered a toll-free number as part of the package. I had to cancel because I was unable to upload the template I wanted from Gatorhost. They had two other options...one of which only offered very plain templates, the other told me I needed to contact Gatorhost because my url was not set up correctly. One tech told me advice I got from another tech was just plain wrong.

As a professional web developer I used HostGator for several years and I strongly advise it to everybody who is searching for a hassle free, reliable web hosting. Cheap price, great uptime and very helpful staff. Thanks HostGator!

Hostgator has been my third web host in less then a year. I just left them as well as the lagging time of my site on their service was unnnn believable! Trying to load a page was like pulling teeth! The tech support guys first told me I was on a busy server, so they moved me to another one... same thing! I'm also getting really tired of the false advertising all these hosting companies are doing. They advertise monthly plans at $4.95 per month, but you have to pay for a full year to get the $4.95. Well, I dont want to give someone all that money up front, especially after the bogus hosts i've been with so far. I just found a host that charges the same, $4.95, but it's a monthly plan. Dirthosting.com - So far so good. Let's see how well this goes. I'm on host #4!
