5 Free domains + free privacy!
"Nice. I got 5 free domains with my Developer Hosting plan + I didn't have to pay for the domain privacy feature. I also got about $900 worth of free software and $400+ worth of free pay per click marketing voucher to help me kick start traffic to my sites. I have lost domains before because I forgot to renew them, so I like the default 'auto-renew' feature (maybe I set a couple to not autorenew later). My needs are modest, so I think 1and1 will workout just fine for me. Tim "

1and1 Sucks: 1&1 Will Rip You Off
"1and1.com is a shit company, I've had my website down for day because of 1and1's crappy service. I've had 20 domain names with them at one time, i'm moving them all over to hostforweb.com. I'm still in the middle of trying to move my domains. If you use 1&1 you will be screwed, they will cost you a lot of money and even more time. Vaun Norwood, UglyKittyMedia "

1and1 is the worst vendor I've dealt with in years.
"I've been fighting wih 1and1 for 6 months to deal with a domain issue. I've paid them 3 times, yet they apparently aren't registering my payments, and sent me to collections (for a $i domain which I've now paid over $50 for). They're refusing to release my domain to a new registrar. I've spent at least 25 hours on the phone with them over the past 6 months. I'm now resorting to calling every executive I can get a phone number for. However, 1and1 is a german company who is very anti-consumer. If I could give 1and1 negative ratings for the 1-5 choice here, I would."

" when you cancel, you will be charged for items they say are not refundable...but you were not aware of until you tried them. "

Unhappy with one thing only
" Love the space, extra's, great software and easy to use add-ins, but early this year they had to discontinue FrontPage extensions on Linux servers. So I switched to Microsoft Servers and found out that later this year (2008), that will also no longer be available. I know MS no longer supports, however, you can still leave your servers to accept the extensions - other hosts do. I'm going with Yahoo for space (GoDaddy is better price if you don't need more than 150 GB space). But Yahoo I think I can trust, but I'll first be sure they have no intentions to discontinue FP extenstions. It's so much faster to save work, less hassle than having to FTP, and setting all pictures again correctly. Frontpage does it fast & quick online as I work. "
